Sustainability Mission Statement
Twilight Trees specialises in the creation, construction, and installation of artificial trees and biophilic structures for both events and permanent installations. Our mission is to transform spaces using reclaimed wood and durable artificial elements that require little maintenance. Our products are designed for longevity, reducing waste associated with event decorations, and ensuring a worthwhile, long-term investment.
By providing rented, reusable products, we enable clients to host beautiful events with little consumption of new materials and reduced waste generation, so prevalent in the events industry. Our primary environmental impact stems from material transportation, which is why we prioritise sustainable transport modes whenever feasible. Additionally, we engage in reforestation projects globally to offset our residual emissions. We are also dedicated to providing local employment opportunities, ensuring safe working conditions, and fostering the professional development of our staff.
Sustainable Development Policy
At Twilight Trees, we are guided by core values that inspire our work and foster a vibrant company culture. We believe in having fun, being a strong team player, dreaming big, having creative energy, and consistently going above and beyond.
These values are further strengthened by our commitment to sustainable development principles: inclusion, transparency, stewardship, and integrity.
We have implemented a Sustainability Management System, adhering to the international standard dedicated to sustainable events, ISO 20121:2024, to continually enhance our sustainability performance and to comply with all applicable legal and other requirements. Furthermore, we actively engage with our staff, customers, suppliers and the local community to shape our policies and objectives and to drive positive impact in our industry.
Our Sustainable Development Commitments include:
Reduce the carbon footprint: We measure our carbon footprint across all aspects of our business, aiming to reduce as much as possible, with an initial target of 10% by the end of 2026. We offset all emissions by supporting verified global carbon reduction projects.
Support projects that promote biodiversity and the reduction of CO2: We choose Verified Carbon Reduction Projects in countries around the world that absorb carbon (stop deforestation and support reforestation), avoid emissions and support renewable energy projects.
Furthermore, for our clients, in partnership with ‘TreeApp’, we plant a tree for every rental and sale we do.
Promote low-carbon commuting: We encourage our staff to cycle to work by participating in
the ‘Cycle to Work’ scheme, which also promotes physical and mental well-being. We also prioritise hiring local people to minimise commute times and promote local development.
Low-carbon transportation: We aim to operate the cleanest possible fleet, ensuring our vehicles are fuel-efficient and well-maintained. Our goal is to have at least one electric van by the end of 2027.
Being Mindful: Our staff is genuinely committed to sustainability. We organise regular awareness campaigns to maintain high motivation and share our achievements, and ensure our staff have the right knowledge to do their work in a safe and environmental manner.
Recycle, Reuse, and Repair: We utilise fallen and reclaimed timber for our trees. We invest significant effort in repairing and rejuvenating our products to ensure longevity and quality. Every component of our trees is given maximum lifespan, and each piece is reused as many times as possible, sometimes for several years.
Working with Sustainably Minded Companies: Our suppliers must demonstrate their commitment to environmental protection and to the wellbeing of their people. We aim to engage with our top 5 suppliers to determine what sustainability credentials they hold and potentially look for more sustainable alternatives by the end of 2027.
Happy staff: We conduct surveys and ensure clear communication with our staff to understand their needs and to ensure a healthy balance between personal and work life. We plan the work to mitigate the negative effect of peak season.
Strive for the lowest number of accidents possible: We will maintain professional risks assessments related to our activities, and provide training, equipment and means to prevent work-related accidents and occupational disease.
Local community support: We want to give back to our community by supporting local charities. As an events company this means we can donate our products and services to charities for their fundraising events. This is an effective way for them to improve their revenue streams at fund raining events.
Monitor, communicate and improve performance: We measure our impact and share the solutions we have identified and positive initiatives we implement through our website and direct communications with clients and suppliers. We hope to inspire others to join us in moving towards a more sustainable future.
This policy is communicated to all our staff to ensure a shared understanding of our
sustainable development values, principles and commitments.
We review this policy annually to ensure it accurately reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability. A copy of this policy is available for download on our website or upon direct request.
